Stop The Presses!

This just in. John Gathings didn't win the prize this week. What is great is that John and his wife are taking the prize and using it to attend an Elderhostel event. You go John!

Prez Ray made one big mistake this week, selecting me as Secret Greeter. Because everyone shook my hand, I had to make up something and tagged Prez Ray and Terry Shankman as non-shakers. I was accused of lying (true) and other actions of malevolence (true). But I did get a buck out of each!

Interclub

29 Palms drove down the hill to make a visit. Thank you for your visit.

Club Bidness

Jack Lacy was trolling for ladies to join him on his next interclub trek. I am now understanding why Jack is IC Chairman. It's his chance to have the company of 3 other beautiful ladies on a regular basis. Of course there is the occasional Jerry Kramer participation that spoils it for Jack.

Buy an ad and support the Lt Gov. $25 for a business card size ad and you can help the Lt Gov do a great job getting around his territory. See Prez Ray to place your ad.

Special Auction

Eileen Robbins won a special auction for a certificate to Mimi's Cafe. Good food and supports the club. Win-Win.

Special Guest Day

Next year's special guest day will be November 11. If there is someone you think needs to be at this event (because next year is all about membership), let us know. Send an email to Dean, Laura, or Eileen.

Rollers

Cliff Reed contributed a nice contribution for his anniversary of 39 years.

Happy and Sad Bucks

Terry Shankman had a buck now that he knows what the view is like under the bus (sorry Terry).

Program

Major Jeff Johnson provided the program on his lunch hour from March AFB. Wearing fatigues, Maj. Johnson described the firefighting systems in the C130 and his role in guiding this effort.

Here are a couple of pictures of the C130 in action

I was also curious how the C130 pilots knew the weather was perfect for a good drop, so I enlarged a portion of the picture and found the answer.

The speaker at the next Kiwanis Meeting will be none other than our own Jeff Johnson who discuss and lead us in Tai Chi.
